Nespresso fever

Nespresso capsules are really good materials to make jewellery with.
We just need a kind of hammer, a needle to make holes in the sides and jewelerry complements.
You can do necklaces, rings, earrings, wristbands or even pins.

There´s a nightmare in my closet

    <>
This is the student´s room where he/she will draw his/her bed, table, chair... We will put this piece of paper on top of the other and cut and fold the door so that the student can open and close it. When students open the closet´s door, the monster they´ve drawn will appear.

Here goes the monster the children will draw

I recently worked with the tale "There´s a nightmare in my closet", by Mercer Mayer.

We worked during 3 lessons of ART. During the first lesson I introduced the cover of the book and made a Power Presentation  and read the book. I underlined some important vocabulary and played Simon Says and other games to internalise it through action and memory games.
Then, we proceeded to make the Craft.
The thing was for every student to think in a personal "nightmare" and draw it inside a closet. The point was for them to see that nightmares are not always bad, they can be nice monsters or creatures who want to play.

Sunday craving "cookie time"

Going past a bakery in my city, I´ve seen THE cookie. We haven´t bought any of them but looking in the Internet I´ve seen a very simple recipe to make them. They are called "Sandwich cookies". They are easy to make and really nice.

Makes about 2 dozen
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (cucharadita) baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 12 large marshmallows (nube de chucheria), cut in half horizontally
  1. Preheat oven to 375ºC. In a medium bowl, whisk (batir) together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream (batir) together butter and sugar until light and fluffy (esponjoso), about 2 minutes. Add (añade)egg, milk, and vanilla, and beat (batir)until well combined. Add reserved flour mixture; mix on low speed until combined.
  3. Using a tablespoon (cucharada sopera) or 1 3/4-inch ice cream scoop, drop dough onto ungreased baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Bake (hornear) until cookies begin to spread and become firm, 10 to 12 minutes.
  4. Remove baking sheets from oven, and place a marshmallow, cut-side down, in the center of each cookie, pressing down slightly. Return to oven, and continue baking until marshmallows begins to melt (deshacerse), 2 to 2 1/2 minutes. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Spread (extender) about 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate over each marshmallow, starting in the center and continuing outward until marshmallow is covered.

Reservoir dogs

Mesa de latas- Can (de more) table

Mr.Men rewards

On the Art lessons, we work following some basic methodology: We first set the commands to work with during that lesson. Then, students work on their own with some relaxing music which is played on the computer. Finally, when they hear a specific song, they have to clean up and try to be the first couple to be ready to be sat on their tables; crossing their arms and listening to the teacher.
For the first couple/ student to achieve this, we can give a special reward, I use stamps but you can use stickers as well. Here are some examples of the stickers I choose which you can print and re-use later.

.Premios para los alumnos que mejor se porten.

Spots and stripes dog

We are teaching 1º Primaria the concepts "spots and stripes", that´s why I´ve decided to make a dog and make students to cut spots out of magazines and glue them on the dog outline. Then, with some cereals or thread, we can make the dog´s stripes.

This is how it can look like, it´s very simple and original and children enjoyed it a lot.
To end up with the lesson, you can put some Cardbury´s advertisments about spots and stripes. Click here to view one of them

Humpty dumpty

This week we´re going to start with Humpty Dumpty as an Art/Literacy project.
To start in Literacy we´ll read aloud the rhyme of Humpty Dumpty and ask them about what they think it speaks about.
We should explain the basic vocabulary and make some games so they remember the items.
Next, we´ll present Humpty Dumpty´s video clicking on the image.
To finish, they will complete the following task.
The next Art lesson we´ll make a Humpty Dumpty artcraft
